| Current Amateur Points Tally | |||
Here are the rules for accumulating points in the CANOE series… |
1) |
For points series paddlers in any C-2 class, BOTH people in the boat must be NYMCRA members. |
2) |
Racers need to do 5 of the 10 points races to qualify for non-raffle points awards. |
3) |
Same points tally configuration as last year; 1st=100, 2nd=90, 3rd=85, 4th=80, etc. |
4) |
Your final point total is the sum of your top 5 races. |
5) |
Paddlers race in their age class. Youngest paddler determines race class in tandem events. |
6) |
Your age group for the year is determined by your age on January 1st. |
7) |
Points Race participants will earn a raffle ticket for each race they enter and finish. A raffle of "big ticket" items will be held at the NYMCRA banquet, you must be present to win. |
| 8) | Points will be awarded based on actual finish position in
each class in each points race. (The 2007 and earlier method was to award points based on finish position relative to NYMCRA members only) |
| Here are the rules for accumulating points in the KAYAK series… These handicapping rules apply to KAYAK competitors only. | |||
| 1) | The NYMCRA points handicap is independent of race standings. Competitors will enter a points race and compete as normal in the usual NYMCRA kayak categories. The race will be run and scored with awards received as usual per race director’s discretion. | ||
| 2) | Points standing for the race will be determined after the race when the race director submits the final results to the NYMCRA points chairperson. | ||
| 3) | The points chairperson will apply the handicap system based on age and boat-type raced to determine the points standing for each gender in the race. There will be one set of handicapped finish times per gender per race. | ||
| 4) | Points will be awarded to the adjusted group finish as 100 points for first place, 90 for second place, 85 for third place, 80 for fourth place, 75 for fifth place, etc. | ||
| 5) | Actual/true race distances will be used to determine the handicap to be applied to the finish time of kayak competitors. Two boats with fully-functioning GPS units racing the entire race will be designated as distance boats for the race. The final race distance of those two boats will be averaged to determine the actual race distance that will be applied to the handicap. | ||
| 6) | The handicap that will be formulated into the finish time of each kayak points competitor in each gender class will be based on boat and age and calculated as follows: | ||
| Age: | |||
| Boat Handicap: | |||
| 7) | At season’s end, awards will be given to the first (champion), second, and third place finishers of each gender group in the points series. | ||
