NYMCRA 2012 Race Schedule

• Course is 3.65 miles on Mohawk River at Rexford, NY (Aqueduct Boat Dock)

• $10 for the season, no charge for NNYP members

• Organized by the Adirondack Watershed Alliance, the event starts at Ampersand Bay Resort on Lower Saranac Lake. Paddlers are encouraged to take advantage of pre-race shuttle. Lake and River course with one short carry around a set of locks.

• The General Clinton Celebrates its 50th year of the greatest one day canoe race in the world from Cooperstown to Bainbridge, NY.
• We will be inducting the first class in the Hall of Fame this year with a Banquet and a 5 mile Canoe Parade on the river open to all on Saturday

• An out and back on the Housatonic River. The river is narrow with lots of turns and has both shallow and deep water-it’s a great river for racing. Cost is $15 per person and includes lunch.

The Sundowner Series of clinics and time trials will be held on June 12, 26, July 10, 24, Aug 7, 21. Paddlers meet at the Saranac Inn state boat launch; on Upper Saranac Lake at 6 p.m. Informal clinics can be arranged on everything from paddling stroke to wake riding. Please call ahead for the clinic schedule. Sessions are $10 each. AWA members are free. Plan to join us after the paddling at MAC’S Canoe Livery for burgers, refreshments and lots of talk about our favorite subject. AWA members can also take advantage of free demos on any boat in stock and available at MAC’S for the Sundowner Time Trials.

• Located by the Little River Boat Launch off Park Street in Canton.
• Free for all participants and all are welcome. Canoes and kayaks are allowed; one or two paddlers.
• There is also a good chance that participants in need of a runner or paddler will be able to find someone at the event on race night. The race consists of one paddling leg of approximately 2 miles and two running legs that are about a 1 1/4 miles each.

2nd oldest paddle triathlon in the world! Scenic bike race through 5 towns, 5 mile canoe or kayak sprint around Stockbridge Bowl, 6 mile run around the lake and finish down the main gate of Tanglewood in Lenox. Party follows the race with food and awards.
