Dear fellow paddlers:
My name is Don Brown, from Fortuna, Ca. For the past 8 years I have hosted
the Paddle to the Headwaters Canoe marathon in Humboldt county in
Northern California. We are taking a year off and will be competing in the
General Clinton regatta in May.
I am in need of lining up a racing hull. My partner and I use a
Wenonah SC-2 cruiser. Might there be someone in your organization who has a
second boat that would be available for rent or use Memorial Day
weekend? I really want to compete in the Clinton regatta but it is
impractical to ship a boat form California . I would appreciate your
canvassing your membership to see if you could help me line up a boat for
the Clinton Regatta. Please contact me back either by phone 877-837-0902,
or e mail
Don@Donbrowninsurance.com.
Thanking you in advance for your help.

Wanted:
Assistance - Coaching - Support
Are you or your family member in the Albany-Troy-Schenectady area? Are you
interested in helping some people get started in single blade paddle sports?
Are you available to share your canoeing experience with a group of
motivated & determined people?
I am working with a group of women who are starting a Dragon Boat team in
the Albany-Troy-Schenectady area. The team members are all breast cancer
survivors. What's a Dragon Boat? If you're familiar with a war canoe then
you'll recognize a Dragon Boat as a war-canoe-on-steroids! They are
propelled with single blade paddles by a team of 20 paddlers. The design has
a south pacific origin which has grown into a worldwide popularity that
includes the northeastern US. Here are a few links to Dragon Boat teams and
events, These will give you a good idea of what Dragon Boat racing and
participation is about. Check 'em out:
Are you
interested? Send me an email at
LAF644@aol.com. Tell me about your suggestions, your ideas and your
offers to help. The team is new and we need a large variety of assistance -
dedicated paddlers who want to help, guest coaches willing to help out from
time to time, breast cancer survivors interested in being on the team,
financial contributions in the form of donations, partnerships or
fundraising activities, boat transportation & storage on the Hudson or the
Mohawk.
Please contact me to discuss your interests. Please also mention the project
to your friends and relatives too. Help them contact me if they want to know
more.
All the best in the New Year!
