NYMCRA's MISSION STATEMENT: |

New York Marathon Canoe Racing, Inc. (NYMCRA)
is an association of canoe racers, and race organizers that exists to
improve and increase the activity of marathon canoe & kayak racing. |

NYMCRA accomplishes its mission by: |

and publishing a schedule of marathon canoe & kayak races. |

Publicizing the sport of marathon canoe and kayak racing. |

· |
Defining & maintaining
specifications for canoe racing in New York. |

Facilitating marathon canoe racing in New York. |

Publishing a newsletter for association members. |
|
· |
Facilitating & promoting clinics on canoe racing. |
|
· |
Organizing & conducting a marathon canoe race within New
York's Empire State Games. |

New
York Marathon Canoe Racing Incorporated (NYMCRA)
promotes the sport of marathon canoe and kayak racing across the Empire
State. The organization was founded, as NYCRA, in 1970 by a small group of
canoe racing enthusiasts who got together in Bainbridge, New York. The
original organizers identified the purposes of the Association to be: To
promote the sport by broadening public awareness; To expand opportunities
for paddlers to participate in canoe races across the state; To encourage
family and youth participation; To increase communication between paddlers
across the state; and to support the fight against water pollution. |
